Follow a Serialized Cyberpunk Samurai Saga…

  • “To be samurai is to serves a greater purpose, which is why no one likes a ronin.”

  • "It’s estimated there are only ten million people left in this world. Ten million Processors. So few. What comes next if we’re gone?"

  • "The winding, narrow road which lay in the shadows of a lonely, crumbling expressway, receded into the distance. A rare Bakufu bullet train whistled over the horizon. The remnants of twilight streaked the sky with pinks and golds and caught patches of high-altitude pollutants in an acid-green light."

  • "They say that’s where they all went. Across the T-Line. Billions and billions of them—the rest of humankind. I suppose they wouldn’t really be human anymore, would they?"

  • "The enormous orange mass of Jupiter filled the entire view. The light reflected from the gas giant cast a warm tinge over the horizon of jagged, crater beds. The mine’s export railgun cut across the scene, launching payload after payload towards the moon’s unmanned orbital station."

A RONIN CYBORG with a secret,

a CORPORATE SAMURAI torn between duty and desire,

& a MINING CLONE from Titan,

will shape a troubled nation’s future.

SYNOPSIS

Visage is an adult sci-fi cyberpunk samurai tetralogy. Think Shogun x Ghost in the Shell with the scope of The Green Bones Saga by Fonda Lee.

In a futuristic feudal Japan, a top swordsman-turned-ronin uncovers a plot igniting corporate warfare among the nation’s leading technological territories. Akira will wield his sword once more to prevent the creation of others like him: Chimeras, or those with neural implants merged with another’s memories.

Meanwhile, Jin, a corporate samurai must choose between rising to leadership or following his desires, & Ryoko, a retired mining clone from Titan, arrives in Japan on a secret mission.

The trio will ally, clash, and shape the conflict between the island nation wrought by political strife, its interplanetary export colonies seeking independence, and the malevolent oceanic AI threatening to destroy humanity in a struggle for freedom, power, and love.

ABOUT VISAGE

In 2017, I was lost in my career and personal creative voice. Living in NYC, having completed my MFA in Fine Art, I felt burned out by the strenuous practice of pleasing my professors and cohort, while disoriented by current events and our fracturing society.

I turned inwards. I began reading and researching widely.

I wanted to be a kid again and remembered an old novel idea from high school.

I got to work and began writing this cyberpunk samurai story.

Visage is both my indulgence in adolescent influences such as Toonami, and my personal creative sandbox to explore the beauty and terror of this world that feels as though we are being left behind second by second.

As a multiracial Japanese-American, this story is a fantasy of an alternative land and time. It’s a hybridized place meant to feel like home to those of us from the Diaspora.
